Are there corona / covid-19 restrictions at the museum?

Is the museum child-friendly?

Children are different, but be aware that the museum is about the witch hunts and a harsh time in our history.
Our exhibits are dark and filled with strange sounds, but many children have still had a good experience at the museum.
You know your child best.

Do I need to pre-book a visit?

We do not require anyone to book, but say a big ‘Thank you!’ when school classes and larger groups let us know before their visit. Please write us at

Where can I park?

We usually recommend the 2-hour parking at Sct. Cathrinæ Church or the 4-hour parking at Danhostel Ribe.

If you want to be sure to get the updated information about parking opportunities, you should, however, visit the page at “By the Wadden Sea” about parking.

Can I take my dog to the museum?

If your dog is so small that you can carry it all the time at the museum, you can bring it with you.
If the dog can do without you, we would love to take care of it in the shop.

If you are visually impaired, your guide dog is of course always welcome.

Do you have a locked wardrobe?

HEX! has locked wardrobe boxes with power sockets in each box.
You need a 10- kroner coin as a mortgage, but if you do not have cash on you, you can borrow a token in the shop.

Is there wheelchair access?

The museum is located on the 1st and 2nd floor of old, listed buildings. Unfortunately, this makes it difficult for wheelchair users to move around.
Because of this limited access, wheelchair users will always be granted free admission to the museum.

To provide as much access as possible, the museum was granted permission to install a small lift in the premises. This makes most of the first floor accessible to wheelchair users.

Please note! Not all wheelchairs can fit into the lift.
Our lift is 111 cm x 104 cm.

We are extremely sorry that not everyone can visit HEX! So, we are in the process of creating a virtual tour, which anyone can use.

Can I use my own headphones for the museum's audio guides?

Feel free to bring your own headphones to our audio guides.
They just need a mini-jack stick (round).

Can I charge my mobile phone or computer at the museum?

Yes! The wardrobe at HEX! has power sockets in all boxes, so you can easily charge your mobile or other devices while on a museum visit.
You’ll need a 10-kroner coin as a mortgage, but if you do not have cash on you, you can borrow a token in the store.

Can I eat my packed lunch at the museum?

We have various options for groups to eat their packed lunch with us, but there is not always room. Please write to booking(a) and make an appointment.

Can I buy exciting witch stuff at the museum?

Yes. In the museum shop we have a fine selection of witch goods and historical books about the witch hunts.

Can the museum's audio guides be connected to a hearing aid?

Unfortunately, they can not.
Expect our audio guides to have a volume like a normal phone.
